Recreation

8:1 Player-to-Coach Ratio | 1-Hour Classes

Our Recreation program is the starting point for beginner and recreational players who want to learn tennis, develop their skills and enjoy the game.
Classes focus on the fundamentals of tennis, including basic strokes, movement, rallying and game play in a fun and welcoming environment. Recreation is ideal for players trying tennis for the first time or those who simply want to play and improve without a competitive commitment.
Players are grouped using age-appropriate Red, Orange, Green and Yellow Ball (Teen) levels.

Focus: Fundamentals • Fun • Rallying • Movement • Game Play
Pathway: Players looking for more training and faster development can progress into our Accelerated program.

Accelerated
6:1 Player-to-Coach Ratio | 2-Hour Classes
Accelerated is the next step for players who are ready for more tennis and want to develop their game at a faster pace.
The longer training format and smaller player-to-coach ratio allow players to spend more time developing proper technique, tennis-specific footwork and movement, rallying, serving, scoring and point play.
Players are also introduced to the competitive side of tennis while continuing to develop in a positive and supportive environment.
Accelerated is the primary pathway into our Elite program. Coaches continually assess player development and may recommend players for an Elite trial when they demonstrate the appropriate skills and readiness.

Focus: Technique • Footwork • Rallying • Scoring • Point Play • Competitive Introduction
Pathway: Recreation → Accelerated → Elite

How Players Progress
Our pathway is designed to allow every player to develop at the pace that is right for them. Age and ball colour provide general guidelines, but placement is also based on playing ability, experience, physical development and overall readiness.
Coaches continually assess players throughout the season. When a player appears ready for the next level, a coach may recommend a trial in the next program. Following the trial, Head Start will determine the most appropriate placement and provide the family with available options.
Looking to Fast-Track Your Development?
Players do not always have to follow the pathway at the same pace.

Clayton Park Program Note

Please note that while the program period runs from September 8 to October 16 (6 weeks), all Clayton Park programs will run for 5/4 weeks due to scheduled court resurfacing.

Our tentative resurfacing dates are currently planned for the end of September. We will confirm the exact week with all participants once dates are finalized and provide a reminder before the closure.

All programs listed below are priced for 5 weeks of programming.

We will also be closed on September 7 for the Labour Day holiday.

If resurfacing is delayed due to rain or other weather conditions, the closure may need to be extended. If this occurs, refunds or credits will be applied for any additional cancelled lessons.
